Curling in Pakistan:
Building Excellence on Ice
Building Excellence on Ice
Curling was introduced in Pakistan by the Winter Sports Federation Pakistan in 2022. Since then, the program has continued to grow each season, primarily through training camps held in conjunction with the National Ice Sports Competition.
2023 – A consistent coaching relationship was established, and curling was introduced to communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
2024 – A dedicated outdoor ice rink for curling was established at the National Ice Sports Competition in Naltar, providing athletes with improved access to on-ice training.
2025 – Pakistan Curling benefited from World Curling’s Development Assistance Funding. Through this support, Pakistan acquired full equipment for two sheets of ice, including stones, brooms, sliders, grippers, freeze-in hacks, and pebbling equipment. In addition, floor curling sets were provided to support broader participation and development.
Pakistan Curling aims to continue increasing awareness of the sport nationwide, developing local athletes, and expanding the reach of floor curling as a standalone sport. Planned initiatives include provincial and national floor curling championships, as well as the use of floor curling as an introduction to ice curling.
